New to self storage?
A first-time renter's guide to Storage Station
A plain-English walkthrough of what renting your first unit looks like — picking a size, reserving, what to bring on move-in day, lease terms, insurance, and move-out. About a 5-minute read.
How renting works in 4 steps
From "I think I need a unit" to "the gate just opened" — usually under an hour.
- 1
Pick a size
Use our size guide and live availability to find a unit that fits. Our most popular size for a one-bedroom apartment is 10×10; for a full home, look at 10×15 or 10×20.

Reserve online or by phone
Pick climate-controlled or drive-up, then reserve. Reservations hold the unit at the rate you see — no payment required up front for a hold. Or call us and we will walk you through it.

Sign your lease and move in
Bring a photo ID and a payment method. Sign the lease in the office (or online), get your gate code, and move in the same day. The whole process usually takes 15 minutes.

Manage online any time
Pay your bill, set up autopay, and check your account at rent.storagestation.com. Need to switch sizes or move out? Call or text and we will sort it out.

Climate-controlled or drive-up — which one?
Both options come in every size we offer. The right choice depends on what you're storing and how often you need to access it.
Climate-controlled
Choose this if you are storing…
- Wood furniture, leather, or upholstered pieces
- Electronics, photos, documents, and books
- Musical instruments, art, or collectibles
- Wine, kitchenware, or delicate housewares
- Anything sentimental or hard to replace
Indoor hallway access — temperature and humidity stable year-round.
Drive-up
Choose this if you are storing…
- Tools, ladders, or contractor inventory
- Lawn and outdoor equipment
- Vehicles, motorcycles, or trailers
- Holiday décor or seasonal gear
- Heavy items you load and unload often
Pull right up to the door — no ramps, no elevators.
Still not sure? Call (509) 827-1927 — we'll ask what you're storing and help you pick.
What's in the lease
We keep our leases short and readable — here's what's actually in them.
- Term
- Month-to-month. No long-term contract required — pay for one month or for years.
- Deposit
- $20 refundable cleaning deposit — returned when you vacate and leave the unit in good condition.
- Setup fees
- None. The price you see is the price you pay.
- Payment
- Pay online, set up autopay, or pay in the office. Major cards, debit, and ACH accepted.
- Insurance
- Required. Most homeowner / renter policies cover off-premises personal property — check yours. If you don't have coverage, we offer affordable tenant protection at move-in.
- Cancellation
- Give us notice, remove your stuff, take off your lock. We close the account and confirm in writing.

Common worries — answered
"What if I pick the wrong size?"
You can switch sizes. Call us, and when an alternate unit opens up we will move you over. Most renters who guess wrong, guess too small — when in doubt, size up one step.
"Are there hidden fees?"
No setup fees, no admin fees, no surprise rate hikes on qualifying month-to-month leases. The rate you see is the rate you pay. We do charge a $20 refundable cleaning deposit, returned when you move out.
"Will my stuff be safe?"
Personal access codes, individual unit alarms, 24/7 video surveillance, perimeter fencing, and on-site management. Use a quality round disc lock and your unit is harder to break into than most homes.
"What if I need to move out next month?"
Month-to-month means you can move out whenever you need to. No early-termination fees. Give us notice, empty the unit, take your lock off — done.
Ready when you are
Reserve a unit online and we will hold it at the rate you see. Or call us at (509) 827-1927 and we will walk you through everything in five minutes.
